Birdies...

Oh just look what I received in the post this morning...

Don't you think they are adorable, they are handmade by my lovely friend Laurie, she is so talented! She even painted a rose on the packaging, something I will cut out and keep.

It really did feel like Christmas receiving them and she even put in a little gift for Ella. The funniest thing was that Ella got really excited about the large bubble wrap, she instantly pleaded me to let her jump on it, yet another thing I love about children, their effortless ability to enjoy the most simplest of things in life.

Just time for a quick post... I have spent the last few days surrounded by cardboard boxes in some mad attempt to organise the stock room, but as of yet it still looks like I have yet to achieve anything... groan! I'm still suffering from the greatest need ever to declutter but as Jeremy quite calmly said when I was having a 'moment', its all stuff we need or has some sort of sentimental value, which is true (apart from business stock.) I hope other people are like me, I'm simply no good at outing anything that has any remote emotional value attached to it, this includes receipts for special days out, cards and worst of all any of Ella's things, this is partly because we do plan to have another baby in the future but also because each thing holds a memory... I just look at her little socks and can't bare to part with them. How sad am I..lol.

Well I best get back to the giant cardboard castle I made for Ella earlier (cardboard boxes were the only thing that I have managed to get rid of and now Ella is pleading that we keep them!)

The birds are so pretty - I am trying to make some felt bluebirds (I am obsessed with bluebirds), and looking at those made me want to dig them out again and have another go. I also save the little things - I still have the tissue and ribbon you wrapped my cupcake pincushion in from the other christmas. Daft eh? I have a friend who sends me wonderful surprises through the post - embroidery patterns, doilies - she knows me so well I know as soon as I see the parcel there will be a treat in there. x

I cannot get rid of anything, even photos of the children with their heads missing, it feels like I'm throwing part of them away! I did force myself to give some of my firstborn's stuff to charity because we're bursting at the seams, but boy it was hard!

Just read your post-holiday post, can't agree more. We came back from our camping trip in Wales and I felt so cramped and hemmed in being in town. Every year we come back with me wailing "I want to live in the country" but it would mean uprooting children from friends, school etc. and us leaving some very good friends we have here in town, and I'm not ready for that yet! Plus I love my house and neighbours so being in town can't be all that bad!

He, he I know just what you mean about hanging onto things. I've got tons of storage but don't use any of it daily because the dresser, chests and boxes are already full. My little boy Barney made me smile yesterday - the felt tip pen he uses to fill in his weather chart every night ran out. He was devastated and has firmly kept a hold of it, awwww. I've got a mad urge to clear out too though, I'm planning to at least be a bit more sensible about what I really need to keep when we move house soon. (Love those sweet little birds btw).
